Scenic Drives

Maps on this page can be clicked on for larger versions and printed out on your printer.  All rides on this page will use Las Vegas as a starting point, but most can be adjusted to wherever you’re staying during your stay in the area.

 The Taos Loop Drive

This is one of the most popular drives in our area. It takes you through Mora, Taos, Espanola, Santa Fe, and back to Las Vegas. This drive will take you for approximately 200 miles  through Mora, Taos, Espanola, Santa Fe, and back to Las Vegas. You will pass through National Forests, BLM Lands, ranch and farm lands and small town New Mexico.

Mosquero and Points Beyond

This drive will take you down NM Route 104 into Trementina, a near ghost town, where you will turn onto Rte. 419 and head toward Mosquero. Mosquero is on Rte 39 and will require you to backtrack a bit to continue the drive. Leaving Mosquero will take you through Roy and eventually into Springer through the Kiowa National Grasslands. In Springer you will meet up with I-25 which will take you back to Las Vegas. For a shorter version of this ride, in Roy look of the turn off to Wagon Mound. This route takes you through a scenic canyon that was carved by the Canadian River.

Las Vegas to Tererro NM

It’s doesn’t get any easier than this drive. One way in and the same route back, but it’s an incredible drive. Stop in Pecos for a meal either on the way up or back, and I recommend Casa de Hererra’s. A visit to the Pecos National Monument is also an optional side trip. You can’t miss it when driving there, it’s before the town of Pecos on the way up, between the road and the Interstate.
